20c 2015 800th Anniversary of Magna Carta Carded UNC
On 15 June 1215 in Runnymede Surrey King John placed a royal seal on one of the most important documents in human history. The Magna Carta (Great Charter) was a revolutionary declaration ensuring that any future rulers were also bound by laws. With the Magna Carta sealed their power could not stop citizens enjoying their rights and freedoms. The justice system that we hold dear today with fair trials and juries owes its existence to this historical artefact.
The Royal Australian Mint has struck a cupro-nickel uncirculated 20 cent featuring a representation of King John I original seal on the 1215 Magna Carta with a mintage of 30 000.
